If you were using a kit, you’d usually need fewer supplies since they’d be supplied or you’d already have them around the house.

There are a lot of plans for making dollhouses of all sizes and types online as well as in "hobby" stores (usually the kind that also sells stuff for model railroads). There are a lot of free plans and lessons online too… check out some of these links for possibilities.
